Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #23

Hello everyone!  And Happy Tuesday!  It's time for the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #23 : Anything Goes.  The guidelines for this challenge:  Make a project of your choice and ANYTHING GOES!  Just use your PEACHY KEEN STAMPS and link up!  Design must be new.

So in case I've never mentioned it, fairies are my most favorite thing.  Which makes last month's PKS ~ Kit of the Month the absolute BEST thing ever!!  I apologize in advance if I  go a little overboard with fairy creations in the coming months.  LOL Here is my challenge entry:

I decided to do something a little different than a card this time.  I made this as a gift for someone special in my life (don't want to mention who just yet in case they see this post before they get their package in the mail).   ;)

Ok, to start - this pretty hanging frame is something I picked up at Michales.  All I did was add the bow at the top which is made with Celebrate It ~ Valentine ribbon.  Now, you might think this is a little weird, but instead of putting this "in" the frame, I actually mounted it on "top" of the frame.  (That's because I put her on an Action Wobble so she could be her little fairy self).    :)

This is one of those projects that I just loved so much, I almost decided to keep it for myself...lol.  You know me and my rainbows ~ I think I might just have to make one in every color!  I'm sooooo not kidding!!!!!   ;)

Ok, the black background cardstock is from Recollections.  The white cardstock is X-Press It ~ Blending Card Paper (which I use specifically for coloring with Copics).  The super beautiful flowers around the outside are stamped with the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Flower Power Frame.  I colored them all in with Copic ~ Sketch Markers (and yes, it took forever - but I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out).

If you look closely, you can see that each and every flower has a Recollections ~ Pearl in the center of it.  They are all different sizes.  Almost all of them are white, but there are a few red ones in there too.  Doesn't this little fairy go perfect with these pretty flowers???  I just knew they were the perfect match the minute I saw them.  And if you check out the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge Blog, you can see that Nikki did the exact same thing with a different color scheme and the other cutie patootie fairy!!!  They are soooo perfect together!!!

For my super duper little cutie, she is from the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ June 2012 : Kit of the Month.  I used the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ SVGs and my Silhouette ~ Cameo to cut out her body and her head.  I used Copic ~ Sketch Markers for her skin, hair, wings, shoes and the tip of her hat.  The rest is all paper pieced.  The patterned paper for her hat and the bottom layer of her dress are from the Creative Imaginations ~ Simply Sentiments : Neutral 6x6 paper stack.  The patterned paper for the background and the top and middle layers of her dress are from the Creative Imaginations ~ Dots & Stripes : Cool 6x6 paper stack.  Here is a closer look:

And for the absolute best part:

I put her on an Action Wobble!!!  She has to be able to move around and do her fairy business of course!!!    ;)

Well that's it for today my friends.  I hope she makes you smile! I think that there is just something so magical about fairies. I'm sure there will be a lot more to come, so I hope you don't get too sick of them.    :)

Make sure you head on over to the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge Blog to check out all the other entries.  Have a great day everyone!  I will see you back here soon.

Support for Emma

Hello everyone.  As many of you may know by now, Emma from My Creative Time has been having a family emergency for the last several days.  Her son Aaron has been in the hospital since Thursday.  As far as I know, they still do not have any definitive answers as to what is making him so sick.  I believe they are still awaiting some test results and should have some answers soon.

I want to thank all of you who have sent well wishes.  A few of you have written to me wanting to know if there is anything you can do.  So, for those of you who are interested, here is Emma's mailing address:

Emma Aguilar
PO Box 910
French Camp, CA  95231

I'm sure they would love to know you are all out there supporting them. I believe the hospital they are in is not in the same city, so I'm sure it has been hard for the family to be apart.  Emma's husband and younger son, as well as extended family have all been visiting on a regular basis, but I'm sure it's tough to not be together every minute of every day at a time like this.

Thank you all for your care and concern.  Let's keep the prayers and well wishes going to show our ongoing love and support.

My Creative Time ~ June Product Release : BLOG HOP

Hello everyone!  So how did you like the Sneak Peeks this week? Isn't this a fun release?!  Well, if you arrived here from the incredibly talented Amy's blog, then you are in the right place. If not, then make sure you go back to My Creative Time so that you can start at the beginning with Emma.  You don't want to miss a thing!

Ok, for my projects today I wanted to show you two totally different ways to use the same die.

So can you tell which I die I used in both projects????  It's the banner die that is included in the brand new My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Sentiments stamp set!!  Let's take a closer look.

The pretty blue background paper is from the SEI ~ A Fair Day collection.  The white, black, and grey cardstock are all from Recollections.  And the pretty blueish-green glitter paper is from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Cafe' Mediterranean cardstock stack.

This super cute plane stamp is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Stamps.  The die to cut out the base of the plane is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Dies.  These are two different sets, but believe me you are gonna want these dies!!! It's so much easier than cutting them out by hand.  Isn't it cute??  I actually stamped the plane twice, once on the grey cardstock and then again on white cardstock so that I could cut out the windows and paper piece them onto the plane base.

Here is a close-up of the banner.  Isn't it just perfect?!?  It's actually two dies that layer together.  The banner dies are included in the My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Sentiments stamp set. And this "Have a good trip!" sentiment is also in that set.  If you look closely, you can see that the banner is a little wavy.  I love that!  Especially Emma's signature stitching lines. CUTE!!  The bow is made with The Twinery ~ Caribbean twine.  (I think that's the smallest bow I have ever tied LOL).  I also used some pop dots behind the plane and the banner for a little extra dimension.

This fun cruise ship is cut from the Life Is A Beach ~ Cricut Cartridge.  If you look closely, you might be able to see that I used some chalk to color in the smokey trail from the smoke stacks on the ship.

The "Bon Voyage" sentiment is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Sentiments stamp set.  I also used the alphabet stamps in the My Creative Time ~ Anyday BINGO & Crossword stamp set to spell out "Alaska".  My mom is going on an Alaskan cruise at the end of this month, so I'm sending this to her to wish her lots of fun.  Also, in this picture you can see one of the cute little clouds from the cloud dies in the My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Dies.  All of the ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

Ok, now for the fun part!  Can you tell how I used the banner die differently in this fun project?  I used them to make tails for the Happy Birthday ribbons on these cupcakes.  Isn't that fun??? Here are some close up shots:

All of the patterned papers for these ribbons are from Doodlebug Designs ~ Petite Prints.  The solid color papers are either Recollections or Bazzill.  The ribbons are made with the My Creative Time ~ Scallop & Stitched Circles Dies and the fun banner dies from the My Creative Time ~ Fly Away With Me Sentiments stamp set.  All of the cute circular sentiments are from the My Creative Time ~ All Around Birthday Time stamp set.  The cute little candles are from Jolee's Boutique.

And for a slightly different theme - how about this one:

If any of you still have some graduation ceremonies coming up, how about these???  The sentiment  is from the My Creative Time ~ All Around Everything stamp set and the fun little graduation hat and diploma are from the My Creative Time ~ All Around Everything Accessories stamp set.

Well my creative friends, that's it for me.  I hope you enjoyed the two different takes on the super fun banner dies.  Don't be afraid to 'think outside the box' and try something new.  You never know what kinda of crafty goodness you will come up with!   :)

My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek : Day 1 June Release

Hello everyone!  Yippee . . . it's that time of the month again! It's time for the My Creative Time ~ June Product Release!!!  For those of you who may be new, Emma with My Creative Time releases her newest stamps during the 3rd week of every month.  And before the big reveal, Emma and the MCT ~ Design Team whip up some fabulous Sneak Peeks for your inspiration.  Are you ready?  Let the fun begin!

This month there are 3 new sets for your viewing pleasure: Fly Away With Me & Fly Away With Me Sentiments & Fly Away With Me Dies. Half of us will be you showing you sneak peeks today and the other half tomorrow.  The super fun Blog Hop will be on Thursday, June 21st.

This release is just so cute, that I had to make two cards for you today.  The best part is that there are so many sentiments in this set.  And the way that Emma designed them ~ they can easily be mixed and matched.  The two sentiments that I am showing you today are "Flying by to say ..." & "Hi"

Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  All of that crafty goodness comes from all the different dies in this set!  Can I get a WOOT WOOT?    ;)

The white, black and grey cardstock are all from Recollections. The pretty blue sky paper is from the SEI ~ A Fair Day collection.

Isn't this plane so cute?  The plane is a die in this set and the stamped plane image fits perfectly inside.  For this little plane, I actually stamped it twice - once on grey and once on white cardstock.  Then I cut out the little white windows and added them to the grey plane base.  This just gives it a little fun dimension.

That cloud die is just so perfect!  There are actually two size clouds in this set.  For this card, I used the smaller cloud.  The paper for the cloud is from the beautiful shimmery Coredinations ~ Gemstone collection.  In my silliness, I used the "Hi" stamp to look like the plane wrote "Hi" in the sky.  I hope you can tell.  I had to do it about a billion times before I like how it all looked...lol...and it's still a little crooked.  Oh well. If you look closely, you can see that the "Hi" underneath the cloud has a little Recollections ~ Pearl to dot the "i".

Here are two of the 27 different sentiment stamps in this set - "Flying by to say..." & "Hi".   The ink for all the stamping is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

I used various size pop dots underneath the plane and a couple of the clouds for some extra dimension.  Simple, but cute I think.   :)

For my next card, I did some fun paper piecing:

I know!  I know!  Super fun right?  Don't you just love this hot air balloon?  Have you ever been on one?  It's on my Bucket List...hopefully some day!

Ok, for those of you who don't know what "paper piecing" is, I will see if I can explain it.  What I did was stamp this hot air balloon image onto 5 different papers: the red, yellow and blue patterned papers are Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints; the solid red cardstock is Recollections and the kraft cardstock for the basket is also Recollections.  I used the hot air balloon die in this set to cut out the background.  Then I also stamped the image onto the white Recollections cardstock as well.

Now for the fun part:  I cut out each piece individually - thus, "paper piecing".  It's really not that hard!  The toughest part is deciding on your colors and design.  Then you adhere them all down using the base image on the white piece as your guide. Kinda like putting a puzzle together.  EASY PEASY as Emma would say!  ;)

Here's a good shot of the two different sizes of clouds.  Aren't they perfect?  If you look closely, you can see that for some of the clouds I used plain white Recollections cardstock and then some of the other clouds are from the Coredinations ~ Gemstone collection cardstock.  Don't you just love Emma's signature stitching around the edges?  Perfect touch!

And here is a close up of the same sentiments.  These are only 2 of the 27 sentiments that come in this set!!!  All mix-n-match ~ you are gonna love it!!!

The pretty sky blue background is the same as the first card. It's from the SEI ~ A Fair Day collection.  You can see that once again I used different size pop dots for dimension.  And now for the BEST part:

I put the hot air balloon on an Action Wobble!!!!  Isn't that sooooo cool?!?!?!

Well my creative friends, that's it for me today.  Hope you liked all the fun.  Don't you just want to go on vacation now?  LOL

"Here's Your Sign..."

Hello everyone!  I'm back with another post today because I just had to share this super fun photo.  This weekend my husband, my sister-in-law and I went to Laughlin for some rest and relaxation.  (I'm not much of a Vegas gal.  I much prefer Laughlin because it is so much smaller and quieter).  Anyway, we love to stay at The Aquarius Hotel & Casino.  They have been remodeling the hotel recently and it's just awesome - super comfortable, lots to do and loads of fun!

On this trip we were lucky enough to see Bill Engvall in concert! For those of you who may not know, he is one of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys (along with Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy & Ron White).  If you LOVE to laugh ~ they are the BEST! And out of the bunch - he is my absolute FAVORITE!!! And the best part . . . we got to do a backstage Meet-n-Greet!!!  A big THANKS to Miss Christine (the best Casino Host EVER!)

He was so friendly and a genuinely nice guy.  It was the greatest time!  I think if we all had the chance to laugh every single day, we would be a whole lot happier and definitely a lot healthier. Have you laughed today?  Well . . . what are you waiting for??? Slap on a smile and let out a little giggle or a gigantic belly laugh (maybe even a snort or two...lol).  Have a great day my friends!  See you tomorrow.

Happy Graduation !!!

Hello everyone!  Today I have my last graduation card of the season.  And if you like college rivalries, then you will love this one.

In Arizona, we have 3 main universities: Arizona State University, The University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.  The big (I mean absolutely HUGE) rivalry is between Arizona State University & The University of Arizona.  I actually went to both schools ~ The University of Arizona for my undergraduate degree and then Arizona State University for my graduate degree.  And as anyone who knows me knows . . . I am a University of Arizona Wildcat all the way baby!!!  That's what makes this card so funny:

This is another clean and simple card (that way the focus can be on the prank...lol).  I made this card to look like their logo and advertising.  All of the black, white, gray and yellow colors of cardstock are from Recollections.  The maroon cardstock is from Bazzill.

The ASU letters are cut from the Plantin Schoolbook ~ Cricut Cartridge.  Instead of doing a traditional shadow layer, this time I cut two sets of letters, one in maroon and the other in black (the school colors).  And I offset the black layer to the left.  Just something a little different, which gives a neat look rather than the traditional shadow.  I also used pop dots underneath the letters for some extra dimension. The sun is cut from the Life Is A Beach ~ Cricut Cartridge.  **Note that I used the Gypsy to remove the sun's face with the Hide Contour Feature.

The "Class of 2012" is from the My Creative Time ~ Follow Your Dreams stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

The "Congratulations you did it!" and the fun little diploma are also from the My Creative Time ~ Follow Your Dreams stamp set.  Again the ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  And notice that I added a simple little gem to the center of the bow on the diploma.

Ok . . . are you ready for the funny part???

Underneath the money, I put a funny picture of Wilbur the Wildcat which is The University of Arizona's school mascot!!! That way, when she removes the money ~ she will see him staring back at her.  ROFLOL!!!!!  You have to understand how big the college rivalry is to know just how funny this is.  When she first went off to college four years ago, I sent her a good luck at ASU card with another funny picture of him inside ~ so she should get a big kick out of this!!!!

Well my friends, that's it for me today.  I hope you had a little laugh to brighten your day.  Of course, if you're not into sports or college rivalries, you might just think this is silly or stupid...LOL.  But heck, either way you're laughing right?!  Have a great day everyone!!!

Oh...and don't forget to come back tomorrow for the My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peeks!!!
