Scrappy Monday with My Creative Time

Hello everyone!  Are you ready for something new & super fun???  Emma with My Creative Time has created a great new segment called "Scrappy Monday".  And it's going to be a challenge!  The guidelines for today's challenge:  Make a scrapbook layout based on the following sketch.  It can be any size of your choice - ranging from 6x6 to 12x12.

I think this is so great!!!  How many of you are behind in your scrapbooking?  I know that I am...LOL.  Ever since I started making cards & 3D items, my scrapbooking has been a little neglected.  So I am hoping to catch up a bit.  :)  My scrapbooking style is pretty clean and simple...nothing too fancy - so I hope you will like it.

Here is today's sketch:

And here is my 8x8 layout:

Yep, that's me!  A couple of years ago, my husband and I went to Hawaii ~ specifically the island of Kauai.  This particular photo is one of my favorites.  We took a helicopter tour of the island.  And this particular helicopter tour was super special, because the helicopter landed at this beautiful waterfall. And this is not just ANY waterfall.  This is the waterfall from the Jurassic Park movie where the helicopter lands and takes off. You couldn't really see much of the landing pad any more, but they made us wear these funny little blue booties over our shoes to protect the area.  We were able to get out of the helicopter long enough to take a photo and then jump back in. The whole scene was absolutely breathtaking!!!

The piece of black cardstock for the background is from Recollections.  The aqua colored cardstock in the background, as well as the shimmery aqua paper for the tag are both from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Linen Closet cardstock stack.  The journaling tag is cut with the My Creative Time ~ XL Label Die.  The ribbon on the tag is Celebrate It ~ Sheer Creations. The linen colored piece of paper in the middle portion of the background is from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Linen Closet paper collection.

For the title, I used the small stitched circle die from the My Creative Time ~ Build A Banner Kit.  The off-white cardstock for them is from Recollections.  To stamp the title, I used the letter stamps from the My Creative Time ~ Anyday BINGO & Crossword stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

If you look closely, the light aqua colored cardstock matting the photo is a pretty sparkly paper from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Spring Fling cardstock stack.  When you see it up close...it is so pretty and sparkly that it actually makes the waterfall look real!!!  The plain white cardstock directly behind the photo is Georgia Pacific cardstock from Walmart.  In order to follow the sketch, I cut the photo vertically into 3 pieces. **Note - This is a fun technique to try that works best on landscape or scenery type photos.

For the pretty little flowers, I used the brand new My Creative Time ~ Flower Petal Dies.  The paper for the flowers is the same as the background piece and the title.  In the center of the flowers are these super fun new things I found at a recent scrapbook convention called Twinkle Goosebumps from Queen & Co.  They come in all different colors and of course...I had to get them all...LOL.

Well, that's it.  Pretty clean and simple, just like I said.  I haven't finished it yet (of course), but I will put some journaling on the tag behind the photo.

I hope you join us for this fun new challenge!  Let's get some scrapbooking done!!!  And don't forget to head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.  You will have until Sunday, May 13th to link up your layout.  I can't wait to see what you all make!

See you again tomorrow.  Have a super great day my creative friends!

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Hello everyone!  It's time for another Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time.  For this challenge we are to: use our Cricuts and any cartridge that has a "frame" on it.  There are so many cartridges with frames on them, but I chose one of my favorites: Elegant Edges.

I made this card for a super sweet friend of mine . . . she's gonna love it!  ;)   The black cardstock for the card base is from Recollections.  The pretty top layer is from the SEI ~ Mimosa paper collection.  The white cardstock is actually a special paper that I was told was really good for Copic Markers.  It's called X-Press It Blending Card and I purchased it from Peachy Keen Stamps.

The beautiful tulip flowers are from the brand new My Creative Time ~ All Around Everything Accessories stamp set.  And the sweet sentiment is from the other brand new My Creative Time ~ Floral Sentiments stamp set. The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  I used Copic ~ Sketch Markers to color in the flowers.  If you look closely, you can probably see one little boo boo . . . one of my markers squirted out a little green dot when I took off the lid.  :(   But in an effort to work on my OCD, I decided not to start it all over.  Besides, Emma is always saying "There are no mistakes in paper crafting!"  (still working on believing that one...lol)

I decided to try something a little different today.  I have seen Emma make these little swivel cards, so I thought I would give it a shot.  To attach the two pieces, I used a little Making Memories ~ brad at the top.

Well, that's it for me today.  Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.  And if you have never entered this challenge . . . give it a shot.  You will have until Wednesday, May 9th to link up your project.  Good luck!  And HAVE FUN!!!

See you all again soon...

My Creative Time ~ 3-D Wednesday

Hello everyone!  It's time for another "3-D Wednesday" with My Creative Time.  The goal is to challenge yourself by making a 3-D project . . . anything besides a card or layout.

For my project today, I came up with a little bit of a different way to give a gift card:

All of the pattern papers for this little bouquet are from the Creative Imaginations ~ Dots & Stripes : Warm 6x6 paper pack.  I tried to pick out some colors to match the little Starbucks Gift Card.  So cute . . . I just LOVE how it turned out.

These super terrific flowers are cut with the brand new My Creative Time ~ Flower Petals Die.  This die was in the new release from last week, but we didn't get to "sneak peek" it because it came in too late.  So I just got it and couldn't help but use it right away!!!  Aren't they so beautiful?!?!

There are actually 3 flowers in the set, all connected in one die. For my flowers here, I used all 3 flowers in the set for the bottom 2 flowers, but I only used 2 of the flowers in the set for the 3 flowers at the top.  If you look closely, you can see that for the top red and yellow flowers, I used the larger 2 of the 3 flowers in the set.  And for the green flower in the center of the bouquet, I used the smaller 2  of the 3 flowers in the set.  And the best part is that all 3 flowers in the set have Emma's signature stitched outline! I just love that detail!!!

In the center of each flower, I used little Recollections ~ heart gems.

I attached all the flowers to these little  Woodsies ~ craft sticks. Then I hot glued them all together for a secure hold and added this beautiful bow made with Celebrate It ~ Holiday Ribbon.  I used my We R Memory Keepers ~ Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole in the gift card.  ***Note - If you do this, make sure you don't punch the hole thru the magnetic strip on the back...lol.  I used a little piece of colored craft wire to attach the card to the bow and I curly-q'd the ends.

In the bottom right corner of the gift card, I used the star burst die from the My Creative Time ~ Build A Banner Kit. And the perfect "Thanks a bunch" sentiment is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Bloom Where You Are Planted stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

What do you think?  Something just a little bit different.  I know it's still a bouquet - lol - but a least it's a little bit of a different idea.   ;)

Well, that's it for me today.  Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.  I will see you all soon.

Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #14

Hello everyone!  It's time for the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #14 : Color Inspiration.  The guidelines for this challenge:  Today we are playing with COLOR!  DoBea chose our color inspiration photo today and it will definitely get you thinking "out of the box"!  Design must be new and created for this challenge.  Must also include Peachy Keen Stamps to win.

Here is the color inspiration photo:

I have a feeling that the "out of the box" comment was meant as a hint to encourage a project other than a card or layout, but I was out of town all weekend and didn't have enough time to create the 3-D item I had in mind.  So here is my card instead:

The minute I saw the color scheme, I knew that I had the PERFECT paper to match.  The pattern paper I chose is from the Imaginisce ~ Berrylicious Collection.  The striped paper for the background and what looks like polka dot paper for the flowers are actually the same sheet - just two different sides. The yellow pattern paper for the flower centers is from the Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints Collection.  All of the other solid color papers are from Papertrey Ink.

These super cute flowers are from the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Cottage Cutz : Funny Flowers stamp/die set.  This terrific set includes the flower/flower center/leaves die, as well as the flower faces stamps.  In order to give the flowers a little more dimension, I snipped the connection between each of the petals and then curled them each upward.  I also added some pop dots behind the flower centers.  I inked around the edges of each petal and the flower centers with brown ~ Color Box Ink.  I also did some stitching around the flower centers, to help them stand out just a little more, with a brown ~ Zig Writer Pen.  I used a white ~ Sakura Gelly Roll Pen for the eyes, Prismacolor ~ Pencils for the the nose and mouth, and I added a little chalk for the cheeks.

In the upper left corner and the bottom right corner of the card, I used the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ April 2012 SOTM Kit.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  I also added a little gem with my Imaginisce ~ I-Rock tool.

If you look closely, you can also see that I did some chalking on the leaves to highlight the edges and inside veins.

Well, that's it for me today.  I made this cute card for a friend of mine's birthday that is coming up.  I wonder if she knows who she is.......Hmmmmmmmm.   ;)

Don't forget to head on over to the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge Blog to see what their AWESOME Design Team has created, as well as all the other challenge entries.  Have a great day my friends.  I will see you all back here tomorrow with the winners of the My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Week, as well as a new project for 3-D Wednesday.

My Creative Time ~ April Stamp Release - BLOG HOP !!!

Hello everyone!  Don't you just LOVE Sneak Peek Week???  This has been just the most beautiful release.  Emma really outdid herself this time!  If you came here from the super duper talented Amy's blog, then you are in the right place.  If not, then make sure you go back to My Creative Time so that you can start at the beginning with Emma.  You don't want to miss a thing!!!

For my projects today, I am showcasing the new My Creative Time ~ Bloom Where You Are Planted stamp set and also the new My Creative Time ~ Floral Sentiments stamp set.  I am so super excited about this release, because it really inspired me to try out my Copic Markers.  Make sure you let me know what you think!  I'm still trying to figure it all out, but I just love how my roses turned out!

Since I think this stamp release is so amazingly BEAUTIFUL, I decided to go with a wedding theme for my projects today. What do you think?

Let's start with my all time favorite - the My Creative Time ~ Embossed Gift Card Holder Die.  This is seriously the best thing ever invented!!!  (Except of course for caller id...LOL...but I digress).  All of the classic papers for these projects are from the Creative Imaginations ~ Simply Sentiments : Neutral 6x6 paper pad.  The beautiful rose is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Bloom Where You Are Planted stamp set.  I colored it in with Copic ~ Sketch Markers.  What do you think?  Only my second time using them . . . but I think I'm addicted!!  The beautiful "With Love" sentiment at the top is from the brand new My Creative Time ~ Floral Sentiments stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  The "For your wedding" sentiment at the bottom is from the My Creative Time ~ More Gift Card Sentiments stamp set.  I stamped it with Versamark ~ Watermark Ink and white ~ Stampendous Embossing Powder.  To finish it off, I added some Celebrate It ~ Wedding Collection Tulle and a couple of little red heart gems from my stash.

Next, how about a pretty little wedding favor.  I made this with the My Creative Time ~ Bubblegum Treat Box Die.  If you have never seen it before, it's absolutely awesome for little treats. But notice that I actually cut off one end to make it stand upright...just something a little different.  I added another rose with some pop dots behind it for dimension and tied it shut with some tulle.  Super simple!  This would be perfect for some little chocolates or mints.

And finally, I have another little gift idea or even a little home decor item.  I cut the frame from the Fancy Frames ~ Cricut cartridge.  I added another beautiful rose with some tulle.  And yes . . . that is a picture from my wedding!  It will be 10 years this November.  :)  And just to give you a little perspective on size, the picture is actually a wallet size photo.  These could be great little gifts at a wedding reception or maybe even little baby announcements.  The ideas are endless!

Well my friends, I hope you liked my little wedding creations.  Now for the good part...

My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Day 3 : April Release

Hello everyone!  Are you loving this release so far???  Today is the My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Week : Day 3.  And the Design Team will all be showcasing the brand new stamp set called "Floral Sentiments" AND the "Rolled Flower Dies".  Just wait until you see these!!!  You are gonna LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!  There are actually 2 different Rolled Flowers (both in one die).  And for the sentiments, there are actually 9 different sentiments.  For my project today - I am using the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

Isn't this such a fun batch of Happy Birthday treats?  I just love how they all turned out!  I think my favorite are the fun little cupcakes.  :)

The fun striped paper is from the Doodlebug Design ~ Rainbow Sherbet collection.  I cut the holders using the Cupcake Wrappers ~ Cricut Lite cartridge.  I actually cut them out twice - once in a larger size and then the inside white one is a slightly smaller size.  You don't really need to do this, but I kinda liked the layered look so I used both.  Inside both cupcake holders is some fun Celebrate It ~ Occasions "Tull-eeeee" as Emma would say.   ;)

At the top are the super fun flowers that are made using the soon to be released Rolled Flower Dies.  The papers for both flowers are from Recollections.  You can't really tell in these pictures, but I inked the tips of all the petals with Quick Quotes ~ Pink Cheeks Powder Puff Ink for the pink flower and Quick Quotes ~ Blue Hawaiin Powder Puff Ink for the blue flower.  If you look closely, you can see that I actually used both of the flowers.  The inside flower is actually the one that looks like a rose.  And then I also added the other flower at the bottom by loosening up the tightness of the rolled flower and setting the smaller flower in the center.  I hope that makes sense.  And for the birthday fun - I added little white candles to the center of the flowers.

This fun little treat package is actually a little pillow box container.  There are several Cricut cartridges that have a pillow box cut on them, however - I have to admit this is a quick and easy pre-made one that I bought in a package at Michaels in the wedding section.  ;)

To decorate it, I started by adding a pretty orange ribbon from my stash and tying a knot at one end.  Then I made one of the pretty little flowers using the Rolled Flower Dies and some purple Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints polka dot paper.  I attached that to the center of the knot in the ribbon.  **Tip - I find it best to use a hot glue gun for a really secure attachment.

Next, I simply added a strip of green Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints polka dot paper with the "Happy Birthday" sentiment stamped on it a few times.  **Note - it's a lot easier to stamp the sentiment onto the paper before you attach it to the pillow box (don't laugh...I was having one of those days where you would just swear someone sucked out your brain while you were sleeping...lol).

Last, but not least ~ how about a simple little party favor.  This seriously only took just a few minutes to make, so they would be very easy to reproduce.  I started with a simple little plastic tube which you can find at many craft stores now.  I filled it with some fun colored candy Skittles...yummy!  Then I used the "Happy Birthday" sentiment again and stamped that with black ~ Ranger Archival Ink on some simple white cardstock. I inked the edges with orange ~ Technique Tuesday Ink.  And then tied it on with some fun ribbon from my stash.  I topped that off by making another quick flower with the new Rolled Flower Die and adhered that to the center of the knot.  Voila! Super quick and easy!  And if you have never made a flower like this - don't worry!  It's super easy.  If you have any problems, just watch Emma's video and you will have it down in no time.

That's it for my Happy Birthday goodies.  I hope they gave you some good ideas for your next party!  :)

My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Day 2 : April Release

Hello everyone!  This is my second post for the day . . . wahoo!!!  Wasn't yesterday so much fun?  I can't believe all of the amazing ideas!  I hope you are all super inspired ~ I know I am!  :)  So today is the My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Week : Day 2.  And the Design Team is showcasing a BEAUTIFUL new stamp set "Bloom Where You Are Planted".

I think we are all pretty used to creating the fun, happy, cheerful and cute projects.  But today, I decided to show you a card for the tougher times in life.  This is a sympathy card.  I hate that we have to ever make them at all, but I have found they often tend to be the most meaningful to the ones who receive them.  So hopefully this can give you some inspiration.

All of the papers for this card are from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Serenity paper stack.  You can't see it very well, but the green background piece is a pretty, shimmery paper.  Many of the DCWV paper stacks have them and I just think they're gorgeous.

This beautiful calendar (my favorite) is cut with the My Creative Time ~ XL Label Die.  The calendar itself is from the My Creative Time ~ Whimsical Calendar Days stamp set.  The beautiful flowers are from this brand new, soon to be released, Bloom Where You Are Planted stamp set.  I colored them in with Copic ~ Sketch Markers.  How do you think I did? I am totally new to using my Copics and definitely need to learn a little more technical stuff like shading and shadowing techniques, but I think I did pretty well for my first real project.  I used some pop dots behind the calendar and the flowers for extra dimension.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival ink.

Shhhhh . . . this lovely sentiment is a sneak peek before the official Sneak Peek of another new stamp set that I will tell you about tomorrow.   ;)   The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

That's it.  Simple and I think beautiful as well.

Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #13 (MCT ~ Bonus Sneak Peek)

Hello everyone!  You are in for a treat today . . . I will be having 2 posts!  Wahoo!  It's Sneak Peak Week for My Creative Time and I will be having that official post next.  But first, it's time for the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #13 : Anything Goes.  (psst...this is also a bonus sneak peek for MCT!)  The guidelines for this challenge:  Create a project using Peachy Keen Stamps.  Anything goes!  Project must be new and must include Peachy Keen Stamps to win.

Cuteness overload!  I just love how this turned out.  The card base is from Recollections.  The green cardstock is from my scraps stash.  The border is cut with an EK Success ~ Scalloped Scallop border punch.  The beautiful flower stamped background is from the new My Creative Time stamp set that I will tell you about later today.  I colored in all the flowers with Copic ~ Sketch Markers.  I also added some fun EK Success ~ Sticko Pastel Dots to the centers of some of the flowers and also by the sentiment at the bottom.  The pretty pink bow is made with ribbon from my stash.

The purple flower is cut with a die from the new My Creative Time product release that I will tell you about tomorrow.  (It's actually a rolled flower cut, but for this card I kept it flat and just curled up the edges a bit).  The purple patterned paper is from the Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints Collection.  The orange patterned paper is also from the Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints collection (the reverse side of the polka dots).  The fun little face is from the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Winter Wonderland Face Assortment.  I used a white ~ Sakura Gelly Roll Pen for the eyes.  I added some cute little cheeks with chalk.  And I added some stitching around the edge of the circle with a black ~ Zig Writer Pen.  The beautiful sentiment is also another sneak from the My Creative Time product release that I will tell you more about tomorrow.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

That's it!  Super cute I think.  And a little unofficial sneak peek for the My Creative Time release.  ;)  Make sure you head on over to the Peachy Keen blog to see the rest of the challenge entries.  I will see you again later today with my official sneak peek for the My Creative Time release.  Have a great day everyone!
