Throwback Thursday Challenge

Hello everyone!  YIPPEE - It's time for another "Throwback Thursday Challenge" with My Creative Time.  This time the challenge guidelines are easy:  Make a project of your choice, using your Cricut and any older cartridge!

I made a pretty wedding card for some friends of my husband who are getting married this weekend.

All of the papers for this card are from the Die Cuts With A View ~ Linen Closet paper pack.  This is such a pretty collection.  I've been eyeing it for awhile and finally gave in this past weekend when I had a bonus 25% off coupon even on sale items!!!  Score!!!!  That means I got the pack for 65% off!!!  How can you beat that?!?

The centerpiece is the beautiful calendar since I wanted to highlight their upcoming wedding date.  I used the My Creative Time ~ XL Label Die and the Whimsical Calendar Days stamp set.  The ink is Sepia ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  **If I had to recommend one MCT stamp set to get ~ it would be this beautiful calendar set.  I think it's just gorgeous!!!

In the upper right corner of the card, I used the My Creative Time ~ Stitched Oval Die along with the "Congratulations" sentiment from the My Creative Time ~ Gift Card Sentiments stamp set.  The ink is Sepia ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

All of the beautiful flowers are cut with the Mother's Day Bouquet ~ Cricut cartridge.  For the white flowers, I stamped them with the script background stamp from the My Creative Time ~ Script Type Backgrounds stamp set.  Once again, the ink is Sepia ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  In the center of each flower, I also added some pearls and a pretty little heart gem - all of which are from Recollections.  In the flower on the right, I also added a touch of Celebrate It ~ Wedding Collection "tull-eeeee" as Emma would say.  hee hee  And I inked some of the flower petal edges with a Color Box ~ Chestnut Roan ink.

**A quick little tip - I always bend and curl up the petals in flowers.  It gives them so much more dimension and they look so much more realistic and beautiful too.  If you've never tried it - for flowers this small, I usually use the tip of my Gypsy stylus.  And for larger flowers, I use the body of one of my Zig Writer pens.

Well my friends, that's it for today.  Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the other Design Team Members have created.  Have a great day everyone!  I will see you all again soon.

Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Challenge #10

Hello everyone!  Wahoo!  Two posts in one day!  Unfortunately, I've missed the last few PKS Challenges, but luckily I got to squeeze this one in this week. It's the Peachy Challenge #10 ~ Just Cards : Faux Stitching.  The guidelines for this challenge:  Create a card using faux stitching.  Project must be new and include Peachy Keen Stamps to win.

When I read the guidelines for this challenge, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I have this great old Coluzzle Template that has this fun quilt-like pattern.  I don't think they make them anymore, but I thought it would fit this challenge perfectly!

It turned out so cute!  And I think it fits the "stitching" theme perfectly. The black card base and the white background piece are from Recollections.  All of the other super cute patterned papers are from the Echo Park Paper Co. ~ This & That : Graceful 6x6 paper pad.

I don't know if any of you are like me, but I have a heck of a time picking out and co-ordinating patterned papers.  So I find it much easier when making a project like this, to pick different papers from the same paper collection.  Let the designing companies do all the work for you - it will save you a whole bunch of time!   ;)

This super sweet face is from the Peachy Keen Stamps ~ Gingerbread 4" Face stamp set.  If you haven't picked up one of these 4" faces sets, you gotta get one!  They are so much fun!  I colored in the nose and tongue with Prismacolor ~ Pencils and then blended that with Odorless Mineral Spirits.  I added some cheeks with chalk and added a few highlights in the cheeks with a white ~ Sakura Gelly Roll pen.  The ink for stamping the face is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  I used a black ~ Zig Writer Pen for the straight stitching around the heart, as well as the cross stitching between the different quilt panels. I added a cute little bow made with Celebrate It ~ Sheer Creations ribbon.  And in the center of the bow, I added a pretty little brad from the Echo Park Paper Co. ~ Decorative Brads set that matches this paper collection.

In the bottom right corner of the card, I used the My Creative Time ~ Stitched Oval Die.  If you look closely, you can see that I trimmed off the right end of the oval to fit the space better.  If you are a little OCD like me (lol) altering your pieces can sometimes be hard or feel weird.  So just experiment every once in a while and don't be afraid to try new things.  (If you've ever watched Emma's videos . . . she has even mentioned that she sometimes cuts her stamps!!!  That's a tough one for me . . . I'm working on some baby steps to get to that level LOL)

The fun sentiment is from the My Creative Time ~ Home Sewn stamp set.    Isn't it the most perfect sentiment for this card?  I just LOVE it!!!  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

One last thing, it's hard to see in this picture - but I inked the edges of the main piece with a black ~ Color Box ink pad.  I think it helps to make it stand out from the white background a little better.  But I really did it to hide some of my white edges that were peaking thru after I put all the pieces together...LOL. Just a little trick to hide the imperfections when they really bug you.  ;)

Well, that's my latest PKS Challenge entry.  Make sure you hop on over to the PKS ~ Challenge Blog and take a look at some of the other entries . . . super cute and tons of creative inspiration!!!  Have a great day my friends!  See you soon.

My Creative Time ~ "3-D Wednesday"

Hello everyone!  It's time for another "3-D Wednesday" with My Creative Time.  The goal is to challenge yourself by making a 3-D project . . . anything besides a card or layout.

So I made another  I really need to branch out and try something new soon - maybe next week.   ;)   But I actually made this for my mother's birthday this week.  She is a movie nut and sees just about every movie that comes out . . . so movie gift cards are always a hit.

How fun!!!  She's gonna love this!!!  For the popcorn holder, I used the Best Friends ~ Cricut Imagine cartridge for the pattern paper and the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More ~ Cricut cartridge to cut the container.  The fun bow is made with Basic-Basic ~ ribbon from Michaels.  And yes . . . inside the holder is real popcorn!!!

Here is the fun gift card to my mom's favorite movie theater. In the upper left of the picture, you can see that I used the My Creative Time ~ Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies.  The paper for the scallop shape is from the Doodlebug Designs ~ Petite Prints collection.  The circle shape is just white ~ Georgia Pacific cardstock.  The fun Happy Birthday sentiment is from the My Creative Time ~ All Around Birthday Time stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival ink.  And in the center, I added one of those cute Jolee's Boutique ~ birthday candle stickers.

To highlight my mom's birthday, I used the My Creative Time ~ XL Label Die and the Whimsical Calendar Days stamp set.  I must say that I think this is my favorite MCT product . . . you can use it for absolutely any special day or occasion.  It's just perfect!  In the bottom right corner, you can see that I used the My Creative Time ~ Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies again.  The paper is the same as before.  The sentiment and the numbers also come from the My Creative Time ~ All Around Birthday Time stamp set.  The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink and Memento ~ Ladybug red ink.

So fun don't ya think?  The funny part is . . . my husband thought this was the cutest idea when I described it to him so he ran to the store to buy the popcorn for me.  Then he popped it up and I went to get a few scoops and I noticed that he had bought the "movie theater" style popcorn.  If any of you have ever had that, you know it's absolutely dripping in greasy butter.  :(   He must have seen the look on my face - I felt so bad.  And then I explained to him how it would ruin the paper and make it all greasy.  He was soooo bummed.  But, as Emma always says "There are no mistakes in paper crafting!"   LOL  so we ate the whole batch and went and bought a different kind later in the day...hee hee.  Hey, at least it wasn't a big bowl of chocolate!!!  ;)

Well, that's my "3-D Wednesday" project.  Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what Emma and the rest of the Design Team have created.  And if you have time, stop back by later today . . . I'm gonna have another post for you all!  Have a great day!

Hello everyone!  I have a fun and silly birthday card to share with you today.  I'm not sure how many of you have ever heard of the phrase "A house divided".  It refers to different sports rivalries within the same family.  Well, in Arizona we have a pretty big rivalry between the two major state universities - Arizona State University & the University of Arizona. And in my family we are totally "a house divided"!!!  My husband went to ASU for both undergraduate school and graduate school.  My stepson went to the UofA for undergraduate school.  And me . . . well - I went to both schools LOL - the UofA for undergraduate school and ASU for graduate school.  So my house is super fun during all the various sporting events throughout the year!!!!  BTW --- if anyone ever asks --- let it be known that I AM A UofA WILDCAT THRU AND THRU!!!   ;)

So my card today is a fun little birthday card I made for my stepson:

The white card base is just white ~ Georgia Pacific cardstock that you can get at Walmart.  The blue cardstock is from the Co-ordinations ~ Vintage collection.  For the Happy Birthday letters, I used the Varsity Letter ~ Cricut Lite cartridge.  The red patterned cardstock for the letters was from my scraps drawer, so I don't remember the maker - but I do know that it's a Fourth of July paper collection.  I outlined all the letters with a little faux stitching for some extra highlights using a white ~ Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

If you look closely at the "I" in birthday, you can see that I added a little Jolee's Boutique ~ Birthday Candle sticker.  And of course the best part --- the "A" in happy is the UofA logo that I just printed from the internet.  How fun is that?!?!  He's gonna love it!!  Even my husband loved it . . . and he's an ASU Sun Devil (booooo!)  LOL

Well my creative friends, that's it for me today.  Just a funny birthday card.  Hope you all have a great day.  I will see you tomorrow!  :)

Monday Madness ~ Imagine That with My Creative Time

Hello everyone! It's time for another "Monday Madness ~ Imagine That!" with My Creative Time.  The goal is to use your Cricut Imagine machine and my assignment is to use the My Favorite Sayings stamp set.  ***But wait . . . today we have another twist . . . it's a Sketch Challenge!!!  Which means you have to use the following sketch when making your project:

Here is my card:

The black card base is from Recollections.  For the next layer, I used the Black & White ~ Cricut Imagine cartridge to print the super fun black polka dots on a white piece of cardstock.  To cut the shape for that piece and the red scallop piece, I used the Elegant Edges ~ Cricut cartridge.  Both the red and the grey cardstock are from Recollections.  The fun polka dot pattern paper for the black and the red hearts are from the Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints collection.

To cut the hearts, I used the heart die in the My Creative Time ~ 100% Sweetness stamp set.  The ribbon is Celebrate It ~ Sheer Creations.  And in the center of the bow is a Making Memories ~ brad

The sweet little sentiment is from the My Creative Time ~ My Favorite Sayings stamp set

I made this with my all time favorite My Creative Time product . . . the Embossed Gift Card Holder Die!!!  The sentiment at the top is from the My Creative Time ~ More Gift Card Sentiments stamp set.  The little "Many Thanks" sentiment to the right is from the My Creative Time ~ Teeny Tag Greetings stamp set. The ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.  The fun little stars and the "Fab Five" stickers are just perfect...I got them from Michaels.  The ribbon is Celebrate It ~ Sheer Creations.  And in the center of the bow is a red ~ Making Memories brad.  Inside is a fun little Starbucks gift card.  The perfect little Thank You for a perfect day of Disney!

My Creative Time ~ March Stamp Release - BLOG HOP !!

Hello everyone!  What a super fun Sneak Peek Week!  Isn't this such a cute release???  There's a little something for everyone - coffee, tea or hot chocolate - I just love it!!  Well, now it's time for the best part . . . the BLOG HOP!!!  If you came here from the super talented Amy's blog, then you are in the right place.  In not, then make sure you go back to My Creative Time so that you can start at the beginning with Emma.  You don't want to miss a thing!

For my project today, I am showcasing the new My Creative Time ~ Tea Party stamp set.  And this time, I wanted to show you something completely different so that you can see how versatile this set can be:

Ok, so I'm back to my favorite rainbows  :)  they are just so cheerful - I love it!  Anyway, the white, the black and the gray cardstock are from Recollections.  If you look closely, you can see that I embossed the gray background piece with the Polka Dots ~ Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

The cute little cupcake or muffin stamp is from the new My Creative Time ~ Tea Party stamp set.  The super fun candle embellishments are from Jolee's Boutique.  Aren't they so fun?? I just had to get them.  They are the perfect size for my little cupcakes here.  I colored in the chocolate frosting for the cupcakes with Prismacolor ~ Pencils and then blended it with Odorless Mineral Spirits for a smoother look.

The perfect "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the My Creative Time ~ Polka Dot "Surprise" stamp set.  The polka dots in the "Happy" match perfectly with the embossed background!!  Love it!  (to get a closer look - click on the picture to enlarge it)  All the ink is black ~ Ranger Archival Ink.

For the rainbow in the center, I simply used Prismacolor ~ pencils and then blended with Odorless Mineral Spirits again for that smoother look.  I just love doing that...looks almost like watercolors rather than pencils and it's really easy to give it a try.  I got my OMS at Walmart for pretty cheap. And you will find it in the paint section of the store, not the crafts section.  Hope that helps.  :)

If you look closely at the little white squares, you can see that I inked the edges with the different colors of the rainbow to match the particular candle.  All of the inks are Technique Tuesday.  Also, I used some pop dots behind the squares as well for some extra dimension.

Well my creative friends, I hope you enjoyed this bright and cheerful birthday card.  And just in case you happen to be one of those people who don't really drink coffee, tea or hot chocolate, I wanted you to see a different look with these stamps.  Once again . . . this release is a MUST HAVE!!!  Emma so totally ROCKS doesn't she?!?!   :)
