My Creative Time - Sneak Peek Day 2 - November Release

Hello everyone!  Welcome back for the My Creative Time ~ Sneak Peek Week ~ Day 2.  Isn't this soooo much fun?  Are you ready for some more?  Today, the My Creative Time  Design Team is featuring two new stamp sets:  Black Belt and Slam Dunk.

For my project today - I am using the new Black Belt stamp set.  Now I have to warn you...I know absolutely NOTHING about Karate...lol.  I did a little research and discovered that there are many different belt colors in Karate.  And also that the order of belt colors depends on your particular Karate school.  So, this may not be exactly right, but I think it turned out pretty good.  I made this layout for any proud parent who has a little one in Karate.  I also mounted it on chipboard so that it can easily be framed.

The background cardstock is from Doodlebug Design ~ Petite Prints.  All of the other colors of solid cardstock are from Recollections.  I cut all the squares using the George & Basic Shapes ~ Cricut cartridge.

All of the images in this picture are from the awesome new My Creative Time ~ Black Belt stamp set.  The ink is Memento ~ Tuxedo Black.  I also used some pop dots behind the little karate guy to give it some dimension.

For all of the other gray squares, I used the My Creative Time ~ Small Talk stamp set to stamp the dotted border around the square.  I used the small stitched circle die from the My Creative Time ~ Build A Banner Kit and the alphabet from the My Creative Time ~ Anyday Bingo & Crossword stamp set to stamp the belt color for each level.  At the top, I used the My Creative Time ~ Stitched Oval Die and the My Creative Time ~ Bonus Stamp set from September to mark the date of each accomplishment.  I also used pop dots behind the ovals and letters for more dimension.

Here are some close up shots:

Now for the black square, I used Versamark ~ Watermark Ink and white ~ Stampendous embossing powder.  Also, in my Karate research, I found that some places include a red belt - so I also made a square for the red.

Now, here is the really good bonus news....let's see if you are really reading all the way through my post LOL.  I am going to give this layout away to one lucky viewer!  If you have a kiddo in Karate and want to document their success or if you just want this because you think it's really cool :) then when you leave a comment today...let me know you want to enter into the giveaway for this.  Then at the end of the week, I will randomly pick a winner.  And just so you know, I adhered all the squares with temporary - removable adhesive.  That way, you can move the squares around depending on your school's order of belt colors.

I sure hope you like today's project.  I was stumped for a good long while since I knew nothing about Karate.  But I think it turned out great!
